Limitations / Failure of Beer’s law

Limitations / Failure of Beer’s law

There are two main causes for the failure of Beer’s law

(1)  The fundamental limitation of the law, which states that the law can only be applied at low concentration and shows deviations at high concentrations.

(2)  Violation of the assumption that the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and the solute particles, results in the absorption of radiation. This absorption may also result from three other types of interactions which are:

(i) Resonance emission

(ii) Fluorescence

(iii) Scattering
